New Performance Group Information for Ages 8 to 10
BAC's Performance Group is designed for students who desire a more intensive ballet-based training program that allows them to take extra classes tailored to their needs and gives them an added opportunity to enhance their performance experience. The program is exclusively for those young students whose love and commitment to dance takes precedent over other extra-curricular activities and who wish to devote more time to their dance training.
What you should know before auditioning:
· Students are required to take one ballet class and one jazz class in addition to the additional PG1 class which meets on Fridays from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
· Students are required to participate in BAC's bi-annual Nutcracker performance which rehearses on Saturdays and will take place this year on December 2nd & 3rd, 2017.
· Students must be prepared to commit to the program and must not have other activities that will conflict with regular attendance in all classes and rehearsals.
· Some Saturday rehearsals may be required during the year in addition to Friday class time. Although Saturdays will be minimal (except during Nutcracker season) students must be available to participate on Saturdays when need be.
· Students will be required to purchase a PG leotard and appropriate shoes for class and performance.
· There is an annual fee of $750.00 if accepted.
· The audition process is selective and based on students' technical ability and potential as well as displayed focus, determination, and willingness in participation. Only students who show a readiness and desire for challenge will be accepted into the program.
The Audition
· The audition will take place at BAC studios on Tuesday, May 16th at 7:00 p.m.
· Students should come to the audition with a black leotard, pink tights, ballet slippers, and hair done appropriately in a ballet bun. No jewelry please.
· Students should arrive 20 minutes prior to the audition start time with a parent who can fill out required forms.
· Once the audition has begun, students arriving late will not be allowed to enter the room.
· The audition will last between 30-45 minutes.
· There is no fee to audition for Performance Group.
· Students will be notified of acceptance by mail within one week.
We are excited to be able to offer this new opportunity for those students who desire an enhanced dance experience. As with any audition, parents should discuss what it means to attend an "audition" and be sure that their child understands and accepts the possibility that they may not be accepted at this point in their training.
We hope that the audition "experience" is positive and rewarding in and of itself, and that students and parents who choose to attend will do so with the goal of it being part of the learning process in each young dancer's journey!
