Pre-Professional Emersion Training Program
Requirements and Commitments

What you should know…please read carefully before you decide to audition!

What is BAC's Pre-Professional Emersion Training Program?
BAC's Emersion Dance Company, Emersion Apprentices, and Emersion Junior Company are the training tracks for those students ages 11 and up (completed Grade 3 Ballet) who wish to pursue their dance training at a more serious level by increasing the opportunity for additional classes and repertory rehearsals throughout the dance year while being assured a minimum of one performance opportunity in addition to BAC’s Annual Spring Performance.

Students are chosen by audition annually and must demonstrate proficiency in technique, acquired skill, and performance quality.  It is an opportunity for BAC’s most dedicated students to intensify their dance training by committing to a required number of classes per week as well as additional classes and activities offered only to the Pre-Professional Training Program students.

What is the Commitment?
The required number of classes for this track is as follows:

  • Junior Performance Group - Per week: 2 ballet classes, 1 Jazz class, 2 hour class/rehearsal on Fridays (Time TBA).
Some Saturday rehearsals will be required occasionally.

  • Emersion Apprentices - Per week: 2 Ballet classes, 1 Jazz class, 1 Modern class, 1 Pointe class (recommended), 2 hour  class/rehearsal on Fridays.  A pointe class is encouraged but not mandatory.
Some Saturday rehearsals will be required occasionally.

  • Emersion Dance Company - Per week: 2 hour and a half Ballet classes, 1 Jazz class, 1 Modern class, 1 Pointe class, 3-4 hour class/rehearsal on Saturdays. Some Friday rehearsals will be required occasionally.

Additional Requirements:
  • All students in this track will be required to enroll in all eligible classes offered during BAC’s Mini-Session in June and also must participate in Winchester Town Day performances when applicable. There are no other BAC summer requirements, although summer studies are highly encouraged.
  • Participation in all performances, workshops, and related activities is mandatory and must take precedence over any other extra-curricular activities.
  • Participation in Ballet Arts Centre Performing Theater Company’s annual Nutcracker is mandatory for all students in this track when applicable.
  • Students in this track are expected to maintain enrollment in the required classes for the full dance year.
  • Because these students represent BAC, there is an expected commitment to the program from both students and parents. Courses of study in other dance programs should not conflict with the interests of BAC and should be discussed with the Directors.
  • Behavior in the program should reflect a spirit of teamwork and a commitment to BAC and its mission. PG students are looked upon as role models and any behavior not conducive to the goals of the program will be reason for termination.
  • Parental support for the program is essential in order for students to work positively towards their full potential. Attendance at scheduled parent meetings/events is expected, and reinforcement of the program's mission and goals is a must.
  • There is an annual fee for the program that covers the cost of classes/workshops, rehearsals, and Master classes offered in the class/rehearsal slots. Additional fees will be required for any costumes, field trips, conventions, additional Master classes, and activities related to outside events.
  • The program requires discipline and dedication and is intended for those who choose dance as their primary focus. Serious consideration is encouraged before auditioning for the program as students are expected to prioritize their time accordingly.
  • Students are evaluated on a year by year basis and must audition annually.
  • Students will be required to purchase a colored leotard assigned to each group (a priority discount will be issued).

The Annual Fee for 2024 - 2025 Pre-Professional Junior Performance Group and Emersion Apprentices is $1,495.00

The Annual Fee for 2024 - 2025 Pre-Professional BAC Emersion Dance Company is $1,750.00
